LFR has since worked diligently to expand CARES across Nebraska, which became a CARES state in late 2014. In partnership with the Lincoln Emergency Communications Center, we have worked to improve bystander CPR rates through Dispatcher Assisted CPR. While bystander CPR rates have improved from 52.5% in 2015 to 70.8% in 2022.  There is still work to be done. After attending the RA in the spring of 2016, a HP-CPR trial was started on C shift with about half of the stations and the entire department was subsequently trained in HP-CPR in early 2017. In 2022, LFR’s department CPR fraction was 95%. LFR is a resuscitation leader in Nebraska.

“Our successes in Lincoln result from hard work, great partnerships, and a “systems approach” to cardiac arrest.  Every link in the chain of survival is essential.”
